But, while the data is valuable and should be taken to heart, this also only gives us superficial insight in what it takes to succeed in the services market. After a little more digging I came across the <span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><em>Facilities Industry Trends-Survey Results <\/em>conducted and published by the FMLink Group, and online magazine for Facility Managers.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n             The study uncovered several interesting trends among facility managers and leadership:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><strong>Top Priority:<\/strong>  Dealing with aging buildings and\/or <\/span><u style=\"background-color: initial;\">building equipment<\/u><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><strong>Largest Increases in Responsibility:<\/strong> disaster planning and recovery, the <\/span><u style=\"background-color: initial;\">management of additional facilities<\/u><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">, and the <\/span><u style=\"background-color: initial;\">addition of computer-aided facilities management <\/u><u style=\"background-color: initial;\">technology<\/u><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><strong>Largest Challenges:<\/strong><\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Balancing the facilities budget (43%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Deferred funding \/ maintenance backlog (32%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Meeting customer \/ tenant expectations (30%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Lack of time to complete work (28%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Understaffed (24%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\">Upper management&#8217;s lack of understanding of the role of FM (22%)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n             So what are the implications for your organization and how do you turn your prospective customers&#8217; challenges into opportunities for your organization?<span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: initial;\"><strong>Aging Equipment &amp; Buildings:<\/strong> Frequent inspections reduce risk &#8211; and liability &#8211; from old, failing or expired fire and life safety
